No Place like Home
The continued popularity of live-in care has reinforced the simple message; “There is no place like home”. This trend of live-in care continues to inspire people nationwide, who seek support, safety, freedom and independence. Promedica24’s live-in care model has allowed over 3,500 people to remain in the comfort of their homes, while receiving an individual service, tailored to their specific needs.
Promedica24’s clients have maintained ownership of their homes, as well as their personal possessions which are often limited in the rooms of care homes.
Alternative care solutions often come with many other limitations which restrict individuals from retaining their independence. One of the advantages Promedica24 has to offer is that their care workers are prudently selected to meet their client’s needs, interests and values – and to protect what is important to them.
For example, care homes may offer very basic food choices. Although some care homes will provide a small choice of meals, this is usually limited and unvaried. Residents in care homes may also share a communal schedule, dictating when they eat and sleep. However, Promedica24’s team of care workers are trained to be flexible and will prepare a range of meals that will appeal to the individual client. And, they do not just cook for their clients, but they will cook with them.
Promedica24’s live-in care model allows each of their care workers to assist with the personal needs of each client. This element of freedom and flexibility is simply not be possible in a residential care environment, due to staffing issues and the demands of other residents.
People who choose to use the Promedica24 model will always have a say as to who they elect as their carer and “how they want to be cared for”. Their unique approach to care allows clients to retain choice across all elements of their lives. With the appropriate level of support, they can come and go as they please and have full control over food choices, meal times and how to spend their day. Effectively, depending on some physical and psychological limitations, clients can continue with life the way it has always been. Nothing changes with the exception that Promedica is there to support them every step of the way!
Promedica24 we consider family to be one of the most important parts of the lives of their clients. As such, they do all they can to ensure that they remain involved at all times, and are included in every decision and are always made to feel welcome.
Sadly, not all residential and nursing homes will have spare rooms where a relative can stay if they come to visit, particularly from a long distance, and this inevitably has an impact on the frequency and length of family visits.
Promedica24’s model enables our carer workers to “get to know” and interact with the loved ones and family members of our clients. Rather than becoming an outsider or observer to a new care regime (which is often then case in a residential care home) they are encouraged to become integrated into the day-to-day routine.
Promedica24 is proud that their live-in care model provides clients with the support, freedom and independence to live where they want to live, see who they want to see and do the things they want to do, despite the constraints that old age or a chronic condition may unfortunately place upon them.
