Hill & Hill Design were approached at the NEC Care show by an independent care provider to design lounge and bedroom schemes
for their care home extension.
The design brief was to use the colour scheme from the existing building yet give the new extension a fresh contemporary feel.
The new wing is to be used for dementia care and so careful consideration was needed with the furnishings.
Our Hockley range was chosen for the bedrooms this has scooped drawer fronts giving greater visibility to the contents within. Carers can display the next day’s cloths in the open hanging space enabling the resident to dress him or herself without assistance. Cheerful soft furnishings and warm coloured Danfloor carpets gave the bedrooms a lovely homely feel.
A warm walnut colour is used on all the furniture in both the lounge and the bedrooms offering a good level of contrast with the
walls and flooring.
The lounge chairs are covered in good quality vinyl using colours to complement the curtains. The addition of heat sealed interliners and under cushion vinyl made for easy maintenance for the staff.
Hill and Hill have since been commissioned to refurbish other homes owned by the group using the same colour palette to the original brief.
The residents and staff in the care homes are very happy with the new furniture and curtains especially Steve the rather large resident cat.
