London, 15th March 2016 – the German National Tourist Office for UK and Ireland (GNTO) is returning to Naidex for the 3rd year in a row, with a bigger stand (B41) and a new travel partner visiting especially from Berlin, Accamino Reisen, one of Germany’s leading specialist tour operators for accessible holidays. Also returning with the GNTO this year is Germany’s biggest BarrierFree hotel, Haus Rheinsberg – a superior 4 star hotel in the Brandenburg lake district. Visitors will be able to research and even book holidays at Naidex, on the GNTO stand.
Visitors are invited to hear the director of the GNTO, Mr. Klaus Lohmann, giving a talk at Naidex this year, on the 28th March, in theatre 4, from 12.30 – 13.00. Using Germany as a destination example, Klaus will be providing an honest and captivating insight into accessible travel under the heading: “Feeling Fearless? Why Accessible Travel is Less Daunting than you Think…”. Afterwards, the GNTO will be hosting a reception on its stand from 4pm-5pm for further networking and discussion.
To make the diverse richness of Destination Germany available to everyone, a multitude of continually evolving projects have been initiated over recent years with the aim of providing accessible tourism opportunities. With a warm and enthusiastic welcome, many cities, regions and tourist attractions in Germany offer high quality facilities for all visitors. The GNTO launched a dedicated ‘BarrierFree’ (accessible) travel website and multi-media campaign for the UK and Ireland in 2012, which has gone from strength to strength. Visitor numbers to the website increased by 57% in 2016 compared to the previous year, reflecting the increasing interest in Germany by visitors from the UK and Ireland. Germany registered more than 80 million overnight stays by international visitors in 2016 – the seventh record result in a row.
Klaus Lohmann, director of the GNTO UK and Ireland commented: “we are really looking forward to being at Naidex again and having the opportunity to talk to people on a one-to-one basis. Germany offers so many possibilities for a holiday – whether visiting Berlin’s new lifestyle and gardening show this year, IGA (April – October), which has full disability access, to celebrating the life of Luther and 500th anniversary of the reformation, to a get-away-from-it-all countryside break or an exciting city break. Whatever your interest, we think we’ll be able to inspire you to visit BarrierFree Germany – we look forward to seeing you at Naidex!”
