Microsoft and the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust have joined forces to use predictive technology and video calling to help boost patient care. Several pieces of technology have been adapted or created to help doctors keep an eye on trends related in patient health.
The program works by combining wearable technology that monitors the patient’s vital signs, a data collection system that combines several data sources to help doctors identify patterns and warning signs and visual technology that allows doctors to check in with and examine patients who are not in the same room as them.
If this program proves successful, it could be the new standard in healthcare, keeping people in their homes, rather than in a hospital.
