The essential and basic elements of wound care
This hands-on workshop will cover wound assessment and categorisation, dressing selection taking into account the broad range of wounds, a discussion into why don’t some wounds heal? Why don’t we always achieve our aims in wound care? And what common mistakes are we making?
- Nasogastric Feeding Tubes
This workshop will provide practical demonstrations on how to insert a fine bore nasogastric feeding tube in an adult patient. It will also include practical tips on how to obtain a gastric aspirate via a nasogastric tube, how to check the pH of the gastric aspirate, how to identify a misplaced nasogastric feeding tube, how to unblock a fine bore nasogastric feeding tube and how to secure a fine bore nasogastric feeding tube. There will be an opportunity for delegates to have hands on practice, on a mannequin, on inserting a fine bore nasogastric feeding tube.

Indwelling urinary catheters are a known cause of morbidity and mortality for any individual, reducing the need for indwelling catheters is a daily requirement in the acute setting. Some individual patients will need assistance in passing urine and bladder emptying. Self-catheterisation is a safe, convenient and reliable alternative.

Over 122,000 individuals are living with a stoma in the UK and more than 24,000 new stoma’s are being formed each year. It is a known fact people are living longer with long term conditions; so whether you work in a care/nursing home, hospice, hospital or community, there is an increasing chance many of you within the healthcare sector will come across patients with a stoma. This interactive workshop will build on the knowledge you already have, but focus on the practical skills of how you can support your patient with a stoma and how to manage difficult situations.

London Nurse Show will meet the educational needs of acute nurses. The fully CPD-accredited show will run across two days providing hands-on, interactive workshops. Each 1-hour workshop will be facilitated by nursing associations linked with the topic. Delegates will have the opportunity to share best practice that can be disseminated in the clinical setting.
You will have the opportunity to attend all eight workshops over two days or a maximum of five if you attend just one day. Workshops are in small groups and led by facilitators from key nursing associations giving you the opportunity to obtain hands-on, practical experience, ask questions and watch expert demonstrations.
