0

Expo 15 is the main event in the health and care calendar. This year it will take place on September 2nd and 3rd 2015. Returning to nhsengland_logoManchester and hosted once again by NHS England it will unite 5000 people a day from health and care, the voluntary sector, local government, and industry. Everyone at Expo is a change agent: keen to network, learn and share the ideas and innovations that will transform health and care services, now and for future generations.

Leaders, staff, patients and service users from right across the health and social care spectrum will be going back to school at this year’s Expo through the cutting edge “pop-up university”._MG_2314

Dozens of expert-led workshops will be held at Manchester Central Convention Centre as part of Expo 2015, a two-day extravaganza focussed on transforming our health and social care services, that brings together a very wide range of people from all parts of the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Top-level doctors and eminent leaders from throughout the health and social care sector will run full programmes of 45-minute sessions throughout the two days, giving around 5,000 delegates more 150 different workshops to choose from. Almost 2,000 workshop places have already been claimed._MG_2351

  • Dr Robert Varnam, Head of General Practice Development at NHS      England, Manchester GP and former member of the NHS Future Forum will lead      sessions on using data for evidence-based innovation, on motivating staff      for improvement, and on the organisations making innovative changes right      now using cash from the Prime Minister’s Challenge Fund
  • Professor Keith Willett, National Director for Acute Episodes of      Care at NHS England and Professor of Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery at Oxford      University, and Professor Jonathan Benger, National Clinical Director for      Urgent Care, will lead a workshop on commissioning the best professional      outcomes from out-of-hospital urgent care._MG_2609
  • Dr Helen Bevan OBE, Chief Transformation Officer at NHS Improving      Quality and architect of the highly-successful “Productive” series of      improvement programmes, will show how change platforms and initiatives      like NHS Change Day lead to real, fundamental improvement.
  • Professor Bill Newman, Professor of Translational Genomics at the      Manchester Centre for Genomic Medicine, will lead discussion on changing      health and care in line with scientific development.

NHS England’s National Director for Patients and Information, Tim Kelsey, said: “The pop-up university is a real jewel in the crown of the Health and Care Innovation Expo. It takes a conference with world-leading speakers and influential exhibitors to the next level, by giving every delegate the opportunity to directly learn from and interact with _MG_2844some of England’s most important leaders and thinkers in health and social care.

“With more than 100 pop-up university workshops over two days, and every delegate automatically enrolled, everyone who attends can set their own bespoke agenda of professional and personal development.”

The pop-up university was first introduced at Expo 2014, and was a huge success. Expo 2015 will be held for the second year at Manchester Central Convention Centre on 2 and 3 September. Speakers already confirmed include Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, Minister for Life Sciences George Freeman, and world-leading cancer doctor and biomedical researcher Dr David Agus. NHS England’s Chief Executive, Medical Director and Chief Nursing Officer will also make keynote speeches, while teenage National Autistic Society _MG_4237ambassador Rosie King and athlete Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson will also take to the stage.

Major exhibition zones focussing on devolved healthcare in Greater Manchester, Vanguard sites and new care models, Digital Health and on preventing Type 2 Diabetes, will also each run their own “mini-conferences”, allowing delegates to focus as much as they wish on the areas that matter most to them.
